Have you ever imagined how it would feel if you couldn't walk?
Have you ever imagined yourself unable to get a firm grip on anything?
Have you ever imagined yourself unable to converse, unable to pronounce what you want to speak, and all you can do is smile and gag?
There are people like this, all over the world. They have names, they have families, they have lives. Just like us. They need to eat, to bathe, to sleep. They play, watch TV, and try to earn a living.
They are handicapped, but they can be more independent than we might ever be, even if all our hands and legs are correctly attached and able to make fluid motions.
They laugh. They are happy, content with what they have, accepting what they don't and live their lives to the fullest. This is more than I can say for ourselves, who brood over small matters all the time. We never learned to cherish what we have, and take our abilities for granted.
They understand what a blessing it is to walk with your own legs, hold things with your own hands, and live without wheelchairs.
To not tremble, to stand straight, to be able to control every muscle. They who had to live without it understands what a blessing it is.
They have less, but, they are more.
